I’m Jane Hart, founder of Modified Ability Yoga, a certified yoga instructor, and—most importantly—a believer that every person deserves access to peace, movement and healing, no matter their circumstances or abilities.
My journey into this work began in the most personal way, me trying Yoga over-and-over with many teachers, and for a long-time not understanding why it wasn’t ‘landing’ for me.
Until, I had a teacher that called me on my own internal story/resistance and reminded me. . . “It’s solely between ME and MY MAT. . . not anyone else!” (His words were more colorful than that, but let’s leave it PG for this moment. Hehe.)

Paired with my own personal journey, I learned Yoga’s even deeper impact through the incredible gift of being a mom to my daughter Grayson, who lives with disabilities. She is one of my greatest teachers. Her presence, challenges and spirit opened my eyes to how inaccessible traditional yoga often is for people with physical or cognitive differences. I knew there had to be a better way—and that I do have something to offer.
That’s why I created Modified Ability Yoga (MAY): a place where Yoga is adapted for each individual, with heart, with care and with intention. Whether my client is in a wheelchair, in a bed, using a chair for support, lying on a mat or simply focusing on their breath, I tailor each session to their unique body, mind and spirit in that moment. I believe Yoga is not about how a pose looks, but how it feels—and how it helps us connect to ourselves more deeply.
When I’m not guiding yoga, you can find me investing time with Grayson, hiking new trails or hanging out with the sweetest dog on the planet—Copper.
I have three amazing daughters, a son-in-law and an incredible grandson. I love all things movement and those special moments of stillness that remind me to breathe.
This work isn’t just my profession—it’s my passion, my calling and my way of sharing love with the world.
Modified Ability Yoga is about meeting people where they are, not where anyone else thinks they should be. I use alignment-based practices, gentle guidance, and specific breathing techniques to support clients in finding peace, awareness, and strength. I work with people living with disabilities, older adults, those recovering from illness or injury, and anyone who wants to slow down, modify, and return to themselves.
I also believe in listening deeply—to the body, to the breath, and to each other. My approach is rooted in compassion, patience, and honoring the wisdom each person brings to their own healing process.
Whether you’re exploring Yoga for the first time, navigating disability, seeking a calmer mind, or needing personalized support, you are welcome here. I would be honored to connect and create a path that’s just right for you.
